맥북 에어 13인치를 질렀다. 공기소년이라 부르기로 한다.
돈도 없고, 맘에 꼭 드는 디자인도 없어서 그동안 변변한 옷 하나 못해주다가 텐바이텐에 들러 싸구려 파우치를 하나 샀다. 그런데 그걸 사자마자 불현듯 떠오른 아이디어 :
요렇게 만들 수 있으면 얼마나 좋을까? 손바닥이 닿는 부분을 어떻게든 덮어서 보호하고 싶은데 그런 파우치/슬리브는 아무리 찾아도 없더라. 그래서 손재주가 있는 친구에게 부탁하기 위해 급하게 종이로 프로토타입을 만들고 모델샷을 찍어 보았다.

I need a pouch/sleeve for my MacBook Air 13", but can't find the right design.
I saw this item online, but I can't afford it. Besides, you'd have to order it and it'll probably take ages. Not my style either.
The one I found online had decent price and practical design but was made out of leather. I don't like leather. Can't touch it. Nope.
So I sent pictures out to my friend who majored in clothing design. But she's busy and I needed one right away.
So I decided to make one myself. Why not. I definitely want a palm rest cover.
I was not exactly sure how, but I went on to make the pouch myself.
First, I bought the materials at Dongdaemun Shopping Complex(동대문 종합시장), where you can find various raw materials for clothing and/or accessories such as textile, buttons, pins, and felt.
Four different types of felt textile were used in this quest. Since I had no idea how one should sew, I found the how-to-sew instruction notes from the shop and the videos on Youtube very helpful. Once I got used to this one way of sewing -the button hole style- speed was not a hinder. But the construction process was not in the right order, so I had to make some stupid moves. If I were to make the same design again, I should never forget to sew things first separately and then put them together. And of course, to give a little more space for the laptop to fit in, since it was not really 'airy'.
Anyways, I somehow finished the pouch! After a whole day of work. I didn't spend it entirely on sewing of course. I've listened to several chapters of my audiobook and the radiolab podcast. The listening keeps me from feeling guilty of doing all these handcraft.
So, here it is. My first hand made pouch for MacBook Air.
약간 품이 작고, 단추나 끈 등을 달지 않아 여밀 수도 없는 옷이지만 튼튼하고 실용적으로 지었으니 잘 입고 다니자꾸나.
